Living Single on Minimum Wage eBook Kay Iscah PJ Lockabey Nate Connell Reviews

This book is packed with useful, practical information for teenagers who are just starting their work careers. The book is actually quite useful to just about anybody, including single parents and seniors living on Social Security. You may not agree with every point the authors make, but you will learn a lot of things that will help you with your money ... and your life.
What a wonderful, easy to read and understand book that has everything someone just starting out needs to know. This book should be required reading in school, maybe as early as middle school but even adults can get solid information they could use immediately.
If you are over the age of twenty-five and you have watched the average American 8-year-old open all their fancy electronic Christmas presents, you may occasionally think... "Wow, I wish they'd had all that cool stuff available when *I* was a kid."

I felt something similar when reading this book. As a thirty-something professional whose minimum-wage days are far in the past, I can't tell you how many times while reading that I thought "I WISH I had this book back then!" Living Single on Minimum Wage is not simply another collection of "money-saving tips" or "financial advice" (neither of which I find helpful on their own), but an actual comprehensive, workable plan for living on a low income. And I do not mean "existing" or "getting by", but LIVING. The authors cover everything from the basics of and reasoning behind having a budget, to healthful, tasty one-dollar meal recipes, to clothing, decorations, romantic relationships, physical and emotional health, and much more. And if you're worried this will be yet another dry, boring financial advice book, rest easy! The authors' writing style is friendly, personable, down-to-earth, and full of real-life examples. The authors introduce and explain simple yet brilliant financial principles (some of these principles were new to me, much to my chagrin and delight). Their explanations are clear and concise, never tedious or long-winded. Above all, this book is fun to read!

When I bought it, I wondered privately whether this book was really going to have anything to offer me since my current income is so much greater than minimum wage. In hindsight, I can guarantee you that no matter your age or station in life, anyone who makes or spends money (and who doesn't?)will find this book not only helpful, but EXTREMELY helpful.

I would highly recommend this book to high-school and college students who have not yet entered the workforce; to anyone living on a limited income; or to anyone seeking an entertaining read and an improved financial life all in one package.
it's a good read, specially with someone living on a budget.
Living Single on Minimum Wage is what most people living on a fixed income know already. The true expert money managers are those single individuals who can live on next to nothing wages or entitlements in relative if hard won comfort. At one time not too long ago I lived on just $515 a month now I waste more than that amount every month and love it! I ate food that was no good for me. I lived in some of the roughest areas of both Baltimore City and Columbia, Maryland. Living Single on Minimum Wage teaches you to spend not only wisely but like a true miser. Repurposing things to avoid buying prepared foods, devices and other needs. Juggling payments on bills so everyone gets just enough of a payment to keep them happy for 30 days.

This book is sensible because no sane person can keep a family on minimum wage. Minimum wage was meant to support a single individual because; it's jobs are a starting point in our economy. People who want to support a wife and kids on minimum wage needs to put the bubble pipe down and get a reality check. You can live single on minimum wage but even in this book the life is not without profound challenges and pains. Living Single on Minimum Wage is good reading. What Living Single on Minimum Wage teaches is as valid in the inner city ghetto as it is in the rural rundown trailer park.

I has been said that Living Single on Minimum Wage does not work in areas where the cost ofliving is very high and to a degree that is a correct assertion. What Living Single on Minimum Wage does in all instances and for people living in all areas is create the miserly mindset one needs to survive on so little. Living Single on Minimum Wage teaches one to continually look for ways to save money. Even in areas where the cost of living is high the frugal mindset engendered by this book is of immense value. If one is intent on living on minimum wage this book is an excellent starting point for study no matter what the cost of living is where you live. I live in Baltimore Maryland one of the most expensive places to live in the country and the advice in Living Single on Minimum Wage works here. The fact that the cost of living in Maryland is higher also means the flea markets and other salvage opportunities are better here as well. In essence people in better areas tend to sell or throw away a better quality of junk.

Lots of honest honorable poor people live in Maryland where life is brutal without money but these intrepid souls soldier on without notice to so many. Living Single on Minimum Wage is a living hell no matter where one lives and while this book is dated its tools and wisdom is still effective. Living Single on Minimum Wage has earned a five star rating from me.
Her ideas are just common sense that can be used by anyone no matter what they make. A lot of people that are doing well financially are those that live within their means. This is an outstanding book for anyone.
Uses less than $6 hour for the base of the budget, however it is still relevant information about managing your finances. Great book for anyone getting ready to be on their own, especially high school students and college students just starting employment.
