From a UK Bestseller comes the story of corruption, deceit, murder and intrigue in the seemingly glamorous world of reality television…

Whilst trying to play the Good Samaritan and intervene to stop a mugging, James Pace is cruelly gunned down by a 12-year old shooter. Barely surviving, he becomes an overnight celebrity as society clamours against soaring gun crime statistics. His reward? A place on one of the Race teams!

Drawn into a deadly political game, he soon finds himself cut off from help, in the steaming depths of the , fighting to survive against terrifying odds. Forced to take the battle to his enemy, he must risk everything to find a way out of the primeval jungle alive and expose the truth.

Assassination, espionage, ruthless enemies, and a rapidly shrinking life expectancy, will force an ordinary man into performing extraordinary deeds. With the Grim Reaper dogging his heels at every turn, Pace must fall back on every rusty skill that the military ever taught him to fight the battle of his life...for his life!

A novel has several parts. The final section, the conclusion, ties together all the parts; for example, it is the resolution of the conflicts or problems. This book is not a complete novel. It is billed as Book 1, which, perhaps, is a hint that it is not complete. However, the only statement of this fact is in one of the reviews. At 236 pages, it is a comfortable read.

Upon reading the first few pages from the "Look inside" feature, I suspected the novel would be an engrossing, enjoyable, thriller type read. I committed myself to reading both books. I'm glad I did.

James Pace is not an exceptional guy when you consider the life he has been living, but he is not ordinary either. The story takes off when suddenly he becomes a hero, which leads to an offer that is monetarily impossible to refuse: to be part of a race through the Amazon rainforest to benefit charity. It all seems a logical up-an-up deal, an adventure, something different. What he doesn't know is that terror and death await.

The story begins with deadly action and the promise of more of the same. Much of the novel is a riveting account of survival under the most horrendous conditions. Throughout the story there is potential disaster in the form of death, death from the jungle or death from others who wish to kill Pace and the other race participants.

The writing is descriptively tight, at times pleasingly dramatic. The author also provides the reader a 'real' look at the rainforest. Characters are finely hones and convincing. Hold onto your hats, an interesting, exciting ride awaits. Reviewed by the author of The Children's Story, About Good and Evil.

RACE AMAZON False Dawn James Pace novels Book 1 edition by Andy Lucas Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

There are many players that all interact and move the book at a fast pace with many twist and turns.
Interesting and captivating story. Long book though. I read the WHOLE thing and enjoyed it a lot. Go for it!
Loved this book.
I haven'the got to read this book yet. Having to pack and move to new home. I will do a great review when I do get to read it. I thumbed through it and it looks like it is going to be good.
Be aware this is not a complete book. Another wasted read.
If you like adventures, you'll love reading this novel by James Pace. I found this book through a recommendation from author David Leadbeater and I'm so glad I checked it out. A great fast paced adventure story, well written, great concept, and loads of excitement. Looking forward to reading more from Andy Lucas.
This was a longer book, and I am so glad I took time to read all of it. An adventure of suspense, murder, passion & a history/geography course, with a flight lesson-- all in one book. Taking place on the legendary River and its accompanying dark jungle, the scenes were as thick with 'at the edge of your seat suspense', as the jungle itself. The passion scenes were steamy, but not erotic, showing the desperation of human beings knowing survival was very unlikely. Although you had an idea who the bad guys were from the start, the surprises throughout the trip kept it fresh and intriguing. And, I loved that the ending was not as expected, with room for a sequel of not only the main character, but several of the 'supporting cast.' It's a gritty, nail-biter of a story. Unpredictable, with human emotions of 'survival at all costs', very well done. I will definitely read more from this author, Andy Lucas.
